Herbert J. York, 90, New Market, died 4:37 p.m. Friday in St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville. Mr. York was a farmer and a truck driver. He also worked for Layne & Myers Elevator, New Market. He attended Church of Christ and attended school at Tennessee. He was born Dec. 28, 1910, at Clay County, Tenn., to Moses and Polly Ann York. He married Lois McCarter on July 17, 1929, at Gainsboro, Tenn. She died in 1981. Surviving are five sons, Clifton, New Market, Roy, Waveland, Harrison, Ladoga, Hershel, Crawfordsville, and Ernest, Syracuse, Utah; a daughter, Margaret Osborne, Wingate; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Reba Coons, a son, James, a brother, four sisters and a great-grandchild are deceased. Funeral services are scheduled 2 p.m. today in Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 103 E. Main St., New Market, with the Rev. John Waye officiating. Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery, New Market. Visitation was conducted Sunday.
